Apologize For Having Great Hair?!

Hey dolls, I know it's been ages! But I'm back and I have a topic I want to discuss with you all. Natural hair is an epidemic, we know! My thing is, natural hair is glorified, and some agree some don't. Hey that's a debate for another time. I personally love my natural hair. I've never felt more "Me" than I do now. I recently got my hair straightened, and got a mixed response from it. A magnitude of people thought I relaxed my hair, to the point where I was on the total defense defending my natural tresses. Others, just couldn't BELIEVE I was "Natural". What is Natural? So, according to the definition Natural Hair; is defined as "Hair whose texture hasn't been altered by chemical straighteners, including relaxers and texturizers." What upsets me most about this definition is (The best is yet to come) lol "An Afro hairstyle is sometimes referred to as "natural," but natural black hair can be worn in many other styles besides a short fro." Meditate on that! I do not have to wear my hair in an Afro because I'm natural. Nor, will I be conformed to a hairstyle because it makes others feel better about themselves. This natural hair phenomenon is becoming something that may end up dividing us, rather than bringing us together. Let's not make this something that will hinder us. We've come so far as a people, let's continue to move FORWARD. Just my thoughts. . . .

Diary of A Product Junkie: Ampro Olive Oil Gel

This gel is awesome! I love it for my edges, it doesn't leave my hair hard or flaky at all. It's become a staple of mines. The consistency is pretty thick and gooey. It smells pretty good and my hair loves it!

Diary of A Product Junkie: Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie

Soooo I'm always on the hunt for great natural hair products. After hearing rave reviews about Shea Moisture's Curl Enhancing Smoothie, I just had to give it a try myself. So after washing with  Shea Moisture's Organic Raw Shea Butter Moisture Retention Shampoo, I applied the curl enhancing smoothie to wet hair and two strand twisted my hair. The results are above after the take down. I'm totally in love with this product, my hair felt very moisturized. It also was a lot softer. This product also smells amazing! The consistency of the product is really smooth and creamy, with great slip! I'd definitively recommend giving it a try.

Feed Your Scalp and Nourish Your Hair!

Below are 8 top foods that should be staples within your eating
plan. (Via Natural Hair Community)

No. 1: Eat your beans. Ok, wipe the frown off of your face - that
is if you don't like eating beans. The truth is beans are really
good for your hair because they provide protein (among other
nutrients) which promotes hair growth.

No. 2: Don't you just love broccoli and spinach? Even if your
answer to the previous question was a resounding 'no', try to
incorporate several dark green vegetables in your eating plan
because they're packed with vitamins A and C.

No. 3: Brazil nuts are an important part of maintaining a
healthy scalp. Walnuts, pecans, almonds, and cashews provide an
excellent source of zinc. Research shows that hair shedding can be
caused by zinc deficiency.

No. 4: Regardless of how they're
served up - over easy, scrambled or boiled - eggs are a very good
source of protein and should be included in your meal plan.

No. 5: Ok, the next food should be an easy sell to most people.
Just about everyone likes carrots, right? Including carrots in your
meal plan will give you an excellent source of vitamin A which
promotes a healthy scalp.

No. 6: Calcium is an important component to maintaining healthy
natural hair. Eating low-fat dairy products like yogurt, cottage
cheese or skim milk will provide you with calcium and protein.

No. 7: Incorporate more whole grains into your diet to add a
healthy dose of B vitamins, iron and zinc. So, the next time you're
at the grocery store make sure you pick up your favorite
whole-grain breakfast cereal and whole-wheat bread.

No. 8: What does feathers, scales and cowhide have in common with
each other? Well, I guess it depends on how you look at it, but
these items are all protective coverings for a very important part
of your meal plan. Chicken, turkey, lean-beef and salmon provide
high-quality sources of protein - in addition to other nutrients.

Although hair care regimens are extremely important! What you put in your body affects your hair as well. So please take heed to these tips beauties, and start on your healthy hair journey TODAY! **Smooches**

Naturally Yours. . .

With all this natural hair phenomena taking place, it's heavy on my mind sometimes. Not being natural I often feel like I'm failing my sistas, but getting a perm works for me. I've considered going natural many times but never fully went through with it. I want to know you dolls views on natural hair. Is it something you feel African American women have taken out of hand or is it something that needs to continue? Does being natural mean you're a "REAL" sista? Are we falling short of being accepted in our race because our hair isn't NATURAL?!?!
